Shadow Gap Island

This bespoke kitchen features 50mm thick concrete worktops, matching concrete upstands and a large statement island.

The island incorporates full-height concrete side panels that are connected to the worktop using a carefully detailed shadow gap. This subtle recessed joint creates the visual effect that the worktop is floating above the side panels, giving the design a lighter and more refined architectural look.

Installing the project presented its own challenge, with every concrete component transported and fitted on the third floor. Careful planning allowed us to minimise the number of joints while ensuring a precise fit throughout the kitchen.
